Alpha Builds

1 min read

Alpha builds are versions of CoyoteMIDI released ahead of the usual Beta update schedule, usually either to test a change in preparation for a beta build, or to provide earlier access to a fix for a critical issue with the app. Alpha builds are only created sporadically when it is deemed necessary by the developers. They can also not be updated to automatically.

Alpha builds are considered experimental, and should not be updated to unless it was explicitly recommended to you by a CoyoteMIDI developer.

Updating to Alpha builds

Alpha builds are only accessible from a Beta build. If you are not yet on a Beta build, first enable “Beta Updates” and go through the updating process. Restart the app once the download is complete to install the Beta version.

When ready, you can update to an Alpha build by holding SHIFT + CTRL on your keyboard, and clicking the update button in the general settings (up to date/download update). A context menu should open containing an ‘Update to Alpha’ option. When you click this, the app will start downloading and installing the Alpha build.

Once installed, you can restart the app, and you should find yourself on the latest Alpha build.

Installing Alpha builds directly

If necessary, you can instead download and run an installer that will install the latest alpha build directly, bypassing the need to install or run the app on an earlier version. You can download the installers here:
