Steam vs Standalone
Both versions of CoyoteMIDI share the same features and receive the same core updates. The main differences are how the application is distributed and how the PRO upgrade is managed.
Updates
The standalone version uses CoyoteMIDI’s built-in updater to download and install new releases.
On Steam, updates are handled entirely by Steam itself, so you’ll always receive the latest version through your Steam library.
Upgrading to PRO
With the standalone version, PRO is activated using a license key.
On Steam, PRO is purchased and unlocked through the CoyoteMIDI PRO DLC, with no separate activation key required.
License Compatibility
Please note that standalone and Steam PRO licenses are not interchangeable.
- A standalone PRO key cannot be used to unlock PRO the Steam version.
- The Steam PRO DLC does not activate PRO on the standalone version.
This separation is necessary due to Steam’s policies.
Sales and Discounts
Because the standalone version and the Steam version are sold through different platforms, promotions may happen at different times. You may occasionally see discounts available on one platform while the other remains at its regular price.
